Trakai is the former capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. This 14th century castle is located on an island in the lake that houses a museum of pre-war Lithuania.
NIDA AND JUODKRANTE
Nida, a small colourful fishing port, is located on the border with Kaliningrad on the Neringa Spit. Nida was made famous by Ger-man writer Thomas Mann who built a summer-house there in 1930. Juodkrante is home to the “Hill of Witches», with its eerie series of wooden sculptures of Lithuanian folk art, set in alcoves in the pine forest.
